Quote grounding (v1.1, backfilled 2026-05-08). 24 of 33 quotes are now real Reddit verbatims with subreddit + date + post URL attribution (~73% grounded, up from ~3% in v1.0). 9 remain [hypothesised] where searches did not surface a clean enough verbatim within the persona's exact register, or were rate-limited (urllib 429 from Reddit anon endpoint after ~30 sequential queries). Wholesale / B2B and Connoisseur HHCP-premium queries hit the rate limit; those personas keep more hypothesised quotes than the others. Quotes older than 5 years were skipped. All authors anonymised at the username level.

Material correction since v1.0. HHC was officially banned in Ireland in July 2025 (RTE, 2025-07-29) following mounting psychiatric cases. This breaks Persona 3 (HHC Explorer) for IE specifically and softens Persona 7's IE/UK availability. Persona 3 region adjusted to UK / DE primary, IE removed.   • Cannabinoid wellness. Use this. It is a category descriptor, not a health claim.
  • Premium hemp. Hemp-derived is the legal anchor for our entire EU shipping radius.
  • Sourced from Colorado partners. Provenance language is fine and credibility-building.
  • Third-party tested. Certificate of Analysis available on request. Always offer the COA.
  • Crafted, formulated, blended. Process verbs are safe.
  • Daytime product, evening product. Time-of-day framing is allowed.
  • Considered effect. "Considered" lets you reference experience without claiming.
  • Adult use only. 18+ in Ireland and UK, 21+ in some EU jurisdictions.

What never to say

  • No medical claims. Never: "treats anxiety," "cures insomnia," "anti-inflammatory," "pain relief," "depression," "PTSD," "epilepsy," "cancer." HPRA and ASAI both prohibit these without medicinal product authorisation. Even softened forms ("may help with anxiety") are non-compliant.

  • The EU Novel Food regulation (EC 2015/2283) classifies CBD extract edibles as novel foods. Pending application status is product-specific.

The 25 years selling Applied Medical surgical devices, the CMSE machinery-safety certification, the National Sales Manager promotion, the 3-year regulatory grind that landed Bedrocan in Ireland. None of this currently appears on TheBudtender.com. It should.

Where the founder voice lives

  • About page rebuild. Lead with one paragraph: Richard sold surgical devices for 17 years before he sold a single gummy. Shirley ran the technology stack at a medtech company before she became the Ganjier. They built TheBudtender because they wanted a hemp brand that respected the customer the way medtech respects the patient.
  • Founder Q&A blog post (cornerstone content). "Why a medtech operator runs a hemp brand." 1,200 words, evergreen, indexed.
  • Email signature on customer-facing replies. "Richard Creagh, Co-Founder. 25 years in healthcare. Three years building TheBudtender." Soft authority signal.
  • PR pitches reference the medtech background as the credibility hook.

What not to do with the founder voice

  • Do not put Richard's face on the site as a smiling founder portrait. He is reserved by signal pattern. Use Shirley's "Ganjier" portrait as the human face on About; reference Richard in copy.

A south-facing window seat at 9am. Black coffee in a hand-thrown mug, an open notebook, a CBG oil bottle and a small pipette. Light is cool-bright. This is the daytime focus moment. CBG products, microdose CBD, terpene-led blends. Mood: clear, awake, capable.

Moment 3 - The Friday wind-down ritual

A kitchen counter at 9pm on a Friday. A cocktail glass holding tonic and ice, a Liquid Diamonds vape on a ceramic dish, a vinyl record visible in the background. Warm tungsten light. This is the adult ritual moment. Premium vapes, evening gummies, the indica-leaning profiles. Mood: earned, relaxed, deliberately chosen.

These three moments map to product-collection navigation: Daytime, Focus, Evening. Every product belongs to one of the three, and the photography for that product belongs in the corresponding mood.

These are specific patterns on the live TheBudtender.com today that contradict this brand kit. They go on the v1 rebuild punch-list.

Visual system

  • Neon green and pink-purple gradient backgrounds. Banners across the homepage use saturated pink-to-purple gradients with neon-green accents. Reads as smoke-shop signage. Replace with Hemp Bone backgrounds, Deep Forest text, Resin Amber accent only.
  • Multiple gradient styles on one page. The current homepage carries at least six different gradient backgrounds across hero, category cards, and CTAs. Strip all gradients.
  • Italic condensed wordmark with gradient fill. Off-brand for premium positioning. v2 wordmark direction in section 7.
  • Dab Division banner. The dab-division product banner uses dispensary-meme aesthetic. Off-brand.
  • Vape station banner. Same problem. Acidic colour palette.
  • Dabtender vape product packaging. Neon-acid colour palette on the cartridges contradicts the premium-wellness positioning. Repackage in v2 of the product line.
  • Product card density. Current category pages stack 4-up product cards with thumbnail compression. v2 should run 3-up with larger photography and 30% more whitespace.

Copy

  • "Get lit" / "Get baked" / "420-friendly" language. Every instance to be rewritten using the considered-effect register.
  • Product descriptions that read like rapper ad-libs. Strain names like "Unicorn Piss" come from the supplier, but the description copy should not double down. Rewrite in the editorial register.
  • Footer compliance copy in 9px grey. Hard to read, signals that compliance is being hidden. Rewrite at 12px Compliance Slate, full sentences, owned not buried.
  • "100% natural" claim. Combined "100%" + claim language. Both flagged by ASAI. Replace with "broad-spectrum hemp-derived cannabinoids, third-party tested."

Before any asset ships, ask one question:

Would Shirley, on a quiet Tuesday morning in Cork, look at this and feel that it represents the brand she and Richard built, or would she feel embarrassed showing it to a customer who arrived through a wellness-magazine article?

If the answer is "embarrassed," the asset goes back to the desk. The brand we are building is the one Shirley would be proud to send to a senior journalist at the Irish Times wellness desk, not the one that performs on a smoke-shop Reddit thread.
